Anoka is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota. It is the county seat. In October of 1920, Anoka had its first Halloween celebration. The celebration has been held every year since, with the exception of two years during WWII. Anoka considers itself to be the “Halloween Capital of the World” and now has many events during October including football games, costume contests, block parties, Grey Ghost 5k run, and two parades. The City of Anoka is rich with history, beautiful parks, and flowing rivers.  The downtown is filled with wonderful shops, services, and restaurants.

Anoka Halloween Parade – Anoka’s Halloween celebration is world class. Participation in the night parade and Grand Day parade has grown to include units from all over the midwest. The original concept of having costumed students parade down Main Street continues on as well on the Friday preceding the Grand Day parade. Anoka residents can watch their grandchildren or great grandchildren continue the tradition they started so many years ago.

Anoka County Historical Society – The Anoka County Historical Socety works to gather, preserve and disseminate history for the enjoyment and education of young and old, residents and travelers alike. The artifacts donated to the museum are symbols of Anoka County’s pride in the past. Each year, the dedicated staff and volunteers of the Historical Society serve tens of thousands of history enthusiasts.
